After recently sharing a short excerpt from a 30-year-old concert with The Remedy and Zeena Parkins on social media, I was genuinely surprised by the amount of interest it received.
A few people even reached out to ask whether more footage from that concert still existed.
That response gave me just the motivation I needed to finally start digitizing some of my old VHS tapes — something I had been meaning to do for a long time.
So I’m happy to share the complete concert recording from the 1995 Jazzhaus Festival at Stadtgarten Cologne.
The performance features The Remedy with Axel Dörner and Sebastian Gramss, joined by special guest Zeena Parkins.
I wasn’t originally part of the band — I filled in last minute for their drummer, Claus Wagner, who wasn’t able to make the gig.
Axel and Sebastian were living together in an apartment in Berlin-Kreuzberg back then, and since we played together frequently, they invited me to join them for this short tour.
We also performed in Heidelberg and a few other places, but as far as I know, this is the only recording that has survived from that time.
Now that I finally have the necessary setup for digitizing tapes, I plan to gradually release more unreleased material from that era.
There’s a lot still tucked away in boxes, waiting to be rediscovered.
